Welcome

Welcome to Santiago St. James! We are a one-of-a-kind multiethnic, multigenerational community, worshipping bilingually in Spanish and English in the heart of Oakland. We are a congregation of about thirty, enriched by a variety of backgrounds and spiritual life stages. Find us in our beautifully crafted, historic sanctuary for Eucharist at 10am on Sundays and at our raucous Coffee Conmigo hour (or two) afterwards, packing resource bags for unhoused neighbors, practicing each others' languages, and guest starring in the kids' latest youtube videos. On your way out, stop to greet the chickens and bees in Indigenous Permaculture's thriving gardens.

We are dedicated to supporting each other as we seek to follow the Gospel in our diverse walks of life. We prioritize community and putting faith into action above all else. We try to think outside the box - you’ll likely find children setting the table and serving communion, messy art projects at formation hours, and a variety of worship styles throughout the liturgical year - while remaining deeply connected to our faith traditions. Visit us any Sunday morning and you will find a spacious and welcoming place to gather and reflect on life’s deeper meanings and consider the actions we are called to take.

All people of all ages, races, genders, and walks with God are welcome!
